Mirto di Sardegna Bath Soap (Mirto Leaf Oil)

$18

For centuries the population of Sardinia, a very popular island in the Mediterranean, has been using the Mirto plant to make a digestive liquor from the maceration of the berries and leaves claiming unique curative properties. From the Mirto leaf we extracted the essential oils of this plant to give toning and dermatological purifying properties to this bath soap.

Our premium bath soaps are 100% vegetable soaps produced with no palm oil. They are crafted using the Marseilles method of artisanal soap production which ensures a creamy lather that nourishes the skin and provides deep moisture.

They are formulated with unique ingredients that represent the varied environments and landscapes found throughout Italy. Each round soap is individually wrapped and packaged in an elegant gift box embossed in metallic foil with the unique symbology of the Saponificio Varesino brand and collection to which it belongs.

Part of the Mirto di Sardegna Collection.

Product size: 5.3 oz (150gr)

The cauldron production process, or Marseilles method, used for our soap represents the artisan tradition by which man has created soap for centuries. It is the skill, experience and eyes of the maker and not the management of machines or mechanical processes that brings the soap to life.

In a first phase called saponification, the fats – mainly consisting of glycerides and fatty acids – are converted into sodium salt. This operation must be carried out so that the resulting product is of good quality and suitable to be subjected to further steps of processing. From this first phase, it is therefore necessary to obtain a soap mass generally containing 30% water, with the least possible amount of alkali and electrolytes, as well as glycerol whose recovery is an economic factor of this process.

That mass is then further cooked, washed and liquified before being poured into soap molds and left to cure until the bars are hand-cut in our workshop.

Just as in the tradition then, we still produce soap with this ancient and natural method, which ensures a final product of top quality with excellent cleaning power but also serves as a very gentle and soothing treatment that results in softer and more elastic skin with repeated usage over time.

The scent of Mirto di Sardegna harmonizes with the aromas of natural additives, creating a woody aromatic note.

At its base are the classic fragrance notes of Sandalwood and Vetiver but its initial expression is filled with the citrus notes of lemon and lime. The heart notes are where you'll find the myrtle that this energetic fragrance is built around.
